Email Newsletter Templates & Social Media
When you select your email newsletter templates, make sure you incorporate important social media channels. Email newsletters continue to be a great way to stay in touch with a target audience. When you’re designing or revamping the template you use for your program, make sure you take the growing fields of social media and mobile devices into consideration. You can incorporate social media channels in your email newsletters design in several ways:
Incorporate links to your blog, LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter accounts. By enabling readers to quickly connect to your social media channels, you can engage your readers. Encourage response through the social media channels. Do more than just listing the link. Solicit feedback or response through the social media channels. You can conduct a survey on your blog or LinkedIn accounts, for example. Set-up your template to include summaries of past surveys List past issues by category in your blog. In your template, link each subject to the category in your blog. Make sure your blog categories are subject matter-related (not just listed as dates only). Summarize top blog postings and send as an e-newsletter. With plug-ins you can create a template that captures top blog postings and sends out e-newsletters to subscribers. You can even add an email newsletter subscriber form to your blog. However you incorporate social media into your email template design, make sure your design follows recommended best practices. Your e-newsletter template should: Use basic CSS (cascading style sheets) in its design. CSS defines key elements of the design. Some of the popular Web 2.0 email systems (gmail, hot mail, ymail etc.) treat CSS differently. For example, Gmail only offers support for inline CSS, while Hotmail requires that CSS be spelled out in the body and Yahoo mail needs it spelled out in the head. Use a simple table structure (two columns are probably best). Table-less design is the rage for many Web site designers, but designs without tables aren’t ready for-prime-time in terms of e- newsletters. With tables you reduce or eliminate the problem of create a design readable by diverse email clients. Incorporate mobile device view options. One of the easiest ways to do that’s to simply create a mobile-friendly version is to include a “view on a mobile device” in the preheader area. In this case, you would create a simple text file, add some basic HTML for link breaks and paragraphs and host the body as an HTML file. Make all critical elements text (not graphics) as some people read their email without downloading the graphics.
One additional important element relating to this matter. Email newsletter templates are great tools for building the proper look for your email newsletter. When you include social media links in your template, you can extend the reach of your e-newsletters.
